Welcome to Edition 4.39 of the Rocket Report! As usual there is plenty to discuss in the world of launch this week, from a successful hot fire test in Spain to a not-so-successful fueling test at Kennedy Space Center in Florida. So without further delay, read away.

Pythom Space tests Eiger rocket, receives blowback. On March 19, the California-based small launch company conducted a hold-down test of the first stage of its Eiger rocket with a single engine. (The complete first stage will have nine small engines.) The company uploaded a video containing this footage about three weeks ago. Lasting about 2 minutes and 40 seconds, the video shows instances where Pythom employees appear to be handling the Eiger rocket and its hypergolic propellants with less than industry-standard care. At one point in the company's promotional video, a handful of employees can be seen running from an expanding cloud of dust and exhaust.

OnePlus 10 Pro review: There’s not much left of the original OnePlus appeal

OnePlus is in a period of upheaval.

The Chinese company lost its co-founder, Carl Pei, in 2020, and it has been undergoing a turbulent merger with Oppo over the past year. No one outside the company knows what the future of OnePlus will look like, but its latest smartphone, the OnePlus 10 Pro, seems to be hinting at whatever this new OnePlus era will be.

OnePlus is part of a big conglomerate of smartphone companies under the BBK umbrella. Similar to how General Motors runs a bunch of car companies, all the BBK brands pick from the same parts bin and make similar products, but they target different markets. OnePlus' BBK sister companies Oppo, Vivo, and Realme are Chinese-focused, and iQOO is focused on India. OnePlus has been the Western-oriented wing of BBK. The launch countries for the OnePlus One were the US and Europe, which made a lot of sense. The three biggest smartphone markets are—in order—China, India, and the US.
