Tiny PC specialist Beelink is offering up a new model that ships with a Linux-based OS preinstalled. The SER 4 4800U X pairs an AMD Ryzen 7 4800U processor with the popular Manjaro distro. The system measures about 5 inches square and stands an inch and a half tall. It sports some eye-catching accents to break up the black metal shell: red grills on the sides and a matching power button on the front.

AMD’s Ryzen 4800U is a nice fit for the compact SER 4. It offers clock speeds from 1.8Ghz  to 4.2Ghz while drawing a maximum of 15 watts.

The SER 4 features three USB 3.0 type-A ports: two on the front and another on the back. There’s also a single USB 3.1 type-C port and a USB 2.0 type-A port at the back.

Need to connect multiple monitors? The integrated Radeon Vega 8 GPU provides plenty of power to push video to up to three displays, two via HDMI ports and another via USB-C. Wi-Fi 6 support comes standard and Beelink also supplies a gigabit Ethernet port and headphone jack.

Remove the system’s bottom plate and you’ll find a bay that accepts standard 2.5-inch SATA drives. It’s left empty for expansion as the SER 4 ships with a 500GB M.2 SSD preinstalled.

The SER 4 4800U X lists for $599 on Beelink’s website with 16GB of DDR4 RAM. Upgrading to 32GB memory adds another $50 to the price tag.

This isn’t the first system we’ve seen ship this year with Manjaro. MINISFORUM revealed the DeskMini UM700 a few months ago, but it’s based on a slightly older config.

It’s powered by a Ryzen 7 3750 APU and priced at $559 on Amazon. For an extra $40, the Beelink SER 4 4800U X seems to have the edge in terms of the price to performance ratio.

Review: Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe is a mandatory game for comedy fans

The original game held a wealth of surprises. Its meta-obsessed follow-up has even more.

Hmm... where exactly does <em>The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe</em> hide its new content?

Eleven years after its debut as a Half-Life mod, The Stanley Parable remains one of the most interesting and divisive video games of the early '10s. However players may have felt about that mod or its 2013 standalone Steam launch, it was at least a very unique comedy game.

My 2013 review of the Steam version was mostly glowing. It came from a younger Sam Machkovech, a writer still surprised and delighted by concepts in video games like second-person narrative and ludonarrative dissonance.

The Stanley Parable, like many other games of its era, explored the illusion of "choice" in video games. Yet TSP stood out. While the "would you kindly" twist in that era's BioShock was meant to heighten the drama, TSP landed in a dark comedy realm. Its script and progression held some similarities to games like Spec Ops: The Line, but unlike its peers, TSP's tendency to surprise players persisted even after they were clued in to the central joke: that their choices were meaningless. Its humor was as much about novelty as it was about taking the momentum out of other games' spins on the concept.

Unihertz has never been opposed to taking risks with smartphone designs and its upcoming Titan Slim is no exception. While the phone has yet to hit Kickstarter a few early reviews are in… and they’re not too flattering.

The Titan Slim looks like a pretty standard QWERTY update. Its elongated body bolts a physical keyboard beneath a touchscreen display.

It also features dual SIM slots, an IR blaster and a customizable action button on the side. The Titan Slim will probably sell somewhere in the $200 – $300 range.

So far so good, right? According to early reviewers, things get pretty underwhelming from there.

First off, the Titan Slim also isn’t quite what you’d call slim when comparing it to most other phones on the market right now. It’s half an inch thick, which is more than 50% thicker than the Pixel 5a 5G.

Then there’s the keyboard. What should be the phone’s standout feature ends up being a source of disappointment.

Unihertz opted to place the modifier keys in the top row, instead of at the bottom where you’d expect them to be.

Also in the top row: the phone’s fingerprint sensor, which doubles as a home button. Graze it while typing and you’re dumped out of whatever input field you were typing in. Unihertz built in a double-tap toggle to prevent this and you’d almost certainly want to enable it.

Another result of the modifier keys being placed at the top is that the spacebar interrupts the bottom row of letters. Maybe that’s not a deal breaker, but it’s probably going to take some getting used to.

One final note on the keyboard: typing on the Titan Slim can be a rather wobbly experience because its weight isn’t distributed as thoughtfully as on a device like the Blackberry Key2.

Above that keyboard sits the Titan Slim’s display. It measures 4.2 inches and has a native resolution of 1280 by 768 pixels. That works out to an aspect ratio of 5:3, which won’t play well with every Android app.

It also failed to impress with its weak and spotty backlighting.

Reviewers also noted that the Titan Slim’s three-year-old Helio P70 processor doesn’t provide the smoothest user experience. Camera performance was fairly poor, and the phone’s plastic shell appears to be a magnet for smears and fingerprints.

It’s worth noting, however, that these were pre-production units that reviewers were looking at. Unihertz could very well make some adjustments to the Titan Slim prior to kicking off production just might make it an appealing option to budget-conscious shoppers who really, really want a new QWERTY phone.
