The USPS rejected all criticism from the EPA and White House.
In February 2021, the United States Postal Service made a controversial decision to replace its fleet of aging and inefficient mail trucks with a new fleet made up almost entirely of new, inefficient diesel mail trucks. Although the vast majority of USPS delivery routes are ideally suited for electric vehicles, the USPS decided that a mere 10 percent of the planned order would be battery electric.
In early February 2022, that decision resulted in severe criticism from the US Environmental Protection Agency and the White House Council on Environmental Quality, who accused the Postal Service of failing to properly examine the environmental impact of its decision, as required by law.
This week, the USPS released its final record of decision and record of environmental consideration for the Next Generation Delivery Vehicle purchase. And it's bad news for anyone who cares about climate change or air pollution, as the Postal Service has dug in and refuses to alter its plans. That means that 90 percent of the 50,000-165,000 NGDVs that are being ordered will use gasoline and will only average 8.6 mpg (28.86 L/100 km) when used with air conditioning.

First announced in February, the the Motorola Edge+goes on sale in the US on March 24, 2022. It will be available from Amazon, Best Buy, Motorola, and Walmart for $900, which represents a $100 discount off the list price. Verizon will also offer a version of the phone for $850.
Motorola is also offering an identical phone called the Edge 30 Pro in select markets in Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Latin America. And a very similar phone has already been available in China since December, where it’s called the Moto Edge X30.

One thing to keep in mind is that while the Moto Edge+ supports a new Motorola Smart Stylus accessory, it’s not included in the $1000 price tag. You’ll have to buy the pressure-sensitive pen separately. It comes as part of a bundle with a folio cover that features a storage slot for the stylus.
Motorola says the phone’s 4,800 mAh battery should provide up to 2 days of battery life, and the 60MP front camera with quad-pixel support should let you snap high-quality selfies even in low light. You can also record 8K video at 24 frames per second or 4K or 1080p video at 60 frames per second using the front camera. There’s also support for recording slow motion 1080p video at up to 960 frames per second.
The rear camera system includes a 50MP primary camera with a 1/1.5″ image sensor, f/1.8 aperture, 1.0µm pixel size, and quad pixel technology for effective photographs with 2.0µm pixels. It also supports optical image stabilization and phase detection auto focus.
There’s also a 50MP wide-angle camera with a 114 degree field of view, f/2.2 aperture, 0.64µm pixel size, and quad pixel support for 1.28µm pixel images. It also supports Macro Vision, which lets you treat the camera like a macro lens with support for getting as close as 2.5cm to your subject.
And there’s also a 2MP depth camera with f/2.4 aperture and 1.75µm pixels.
Interestingly the rear camera system does not support 8K video at all, topping out at 4K/60fps video instead, while slow-motion video capture with the rear cameras tops out at 240 frames per second for 1080p videos.
Twitter: we goofed up by suspending users tracking the conflict with Russia.
Twitter said it had mistakenly suspended the accounts of open source intelligence reporters posting about Russia’s military build-up around Ukraine, leading to many of them accusing the Russian state of launching a “bot” campaign against them.
Based on publicly available satellite imagery, open source reporters have used social media to supply a steady commentary on the activities of Russian forces near the Ukrainian border, providing a valuable alternative source of information to western intelligence reports.
The people behind the suspended accounts said they believed they had been the target of an attack by Russian bots—computers that mimic the activity of human users—that had mass-reported their content as being suspicious. This led their content to be removed automatically by Twitter’s moderation technology.

Nokia has largely been out of the consumer electronics space for years, but thanks to licensing deals you can pick up Nokia-branded phones and tablets worldwide from HMD Global, and Nokia-branded laptops in India thanks to Flipkart.
Now a French startup called OFF Global has announced it’s bringing a line of Nokia PureBook Pro laptops to 22 countries.
It’s unclear whether the Nokia name will be enough to make these laptops stand out, especially since they’re not actually made by Nokia or HMD (the company probably most associated with Nokia-branded consumer devices in recent years). But at least they’re reasonably well pried.
OFF Global will offer a 15.6 inch model pried at €699 ($780) and a 17.3 inch version that sells for €799 ($890).
Both laptops feature 1920 x 1080 pixel 250-nit displays and both are powered by 28-watt Intel Core i3-1220P processors and feature 8GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD (both user upgradeable).
The notebooks also have 2MP webcams, two USB Type-C ports, a USB 3.2 Type-A port, a headset jack, and a microSD card reader, a fingerprint sensor, and support for WiFi 5 and Bluetooth 5.
The 15.6 inch model weighs 1.7 kg (3.75 pounds) and features a 57 Wh battery, while the 17.3 inch version is 2.5 kg (5.5 pounds) with a 63 Wh battery. Both models measure 19mm (0.75 inches) thick.
