Topping our list today is a deal on Apple's newest regular iPad—now you can get a 128GB Wi-Fi iPad for $329, which is $100 off its original price and the same price as the same model was back on Black Friday. This particular model has the highest storage capacity available in the regular iPad, making it better than the 32GB version if you plan to store lots of photos, apps, notes, and other documents on it.

While it's not as powerful as the newest iPad Air or iPad mini, which Apple announced just a few weeks ago, the regular iPad now sports a quad-core A10 Fusion processor, 2GB of RAM, an 8MP rear camera, and a physical Home button with support for Touch ID. Apple also updated the device to have a 9.7-inch, 2048×1536 display that supports the Apple Pencil, letting you explore your artistic side if you're inclined to spring for Apple's $100 stylus. This iPad is a great alternative for those who don't need the bells and whistles of the iPad Pro and would prefer to spend a bit less and still get a solid iPad.

Amazon plans satellite broadband for “tens of millions” of people

Amazon says it’ll launch 3,236 low Earth satellites for fast, low-latency service.

Amazon has confirmed it plans to launch thousands of low Earth orbit satellites in order to provide high-speed, low-latency broadband service around the globe.

Details on Amazon's Project Kuiper emerged in filings with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and in an article published today by GeekWire.

Amazon confirmed Project Kuiper in a statement to GeekWire. When contacted by Ars, Amazon provided us the same statement but said it would be "premature" to answer any of our specific questions about speeds, prices, and when service will be available.

SpaceX’s Starhopper vehicle test fires its engine for the first time

For a couple of weeks, SpaceX engineers and technicians have been conducting a series of tests on its Starship prototype vehicle in south Texas. For example, they have loaded liquid oxygen and liquid methane fuels onto the vehicle, studied the cryogenic properties of the fuel tanks, and then removed the propellant.

As expected, this was all a little dull for those eager to see Starhopper light its single Raptor engine—until Wednesday evening. Shortly after night fell over the southern Texas test facility, Starhopper roared to life for the first time, firing its Raptor engine and lifting briefly off the pad. The vehicle did not go far, because for now it remains solidly tethered to the ground.

This test firing was apparently successful. "Starhopper completed tethered hop. All systems green," SpaceX founder Elon Musk tweeted shortly after the test.
