A couple years ago, Lenovo announced its plans to build a "retro" ThinkPad that would resurrect design elements of ThinkPads past as an homage to the brand's long history.

That ThinkPad is now real. Check out the ThinkPad 25, sold to commemorate 25 years of ThinkPads.

Video: We take a look at some gorgeous custom computers

Custom PC builder Maingear shows us how beautiful PCs can be.

(video link)

A few weeks ago, we took a look at some of the ways you can use fans, memory, and cases packed with LEDs to give your PCs some personality. RGB illumination is just scratching the surface of PC customization; the devoted PC builder has custom cooling and high-end paint jobs as key tools in their arsenal.

But not all of us want to build our own PCs, and some of the coolest modifications—like water cooling with hardline pipework and plumbing rather than flexible rubber tubing—are decidedly complex, putting them out of reach to many of us. Filling this gap are companies like Falcon Northwest, Origin PC, and Maingear. These companies build hotrod PCs, tailored to the exact design and configuration of your choosing, with high-end water cooling, custom paintwork, and hefty overclocks, while still coming with the reassurances that prebuilt machines offer, like tech support and warranties.

How Nintendo may be encouraging Switch hacking by trying to stop it

Fans look to hackers for save backup feature that Nintendo blocked to thwart hackers.

More than six months after the Switch's launch, Nintendo still shows no public interest in giving players the ability to externally back up save files on the popular Switch console. "I can’t say there’s a solution coming, but we do hear the message," Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime told Kotaku in June, the last time the issue was addressed publicly (Nintendo has yet to respond to a request for comment from Ars Technica).

With no signs of help on the horizon from Nintendo itself, many Switch owners are publicly looking to console hackers to add a feature that Nintendo, ironically, seems to have blocked to help prevent such hacking from happening in the first place.

"I LOVE my Nintendo Switch but knowing that one drop might cause me to lose all of my save data is terrifying," Reddit user Ma_name_is_Jeff writes in a heavily upvoted thread in /r/NintendoSwitch this week. Another thread, from user 313ctro, recounts how 200+ hours of Breath of the Wild progress was lost to a broken system, echoing the experiences GamesRadar's Anthony Agnello reported months ago.

Netflix raises its US monthly fee again, but only for two plans

The lowest tier stays the same, and the others are still competitive.

Netflix has raised its prices again for some plans in the United States. The biggest change is to the premium plan, which supports 4K streaming and up to four simultaneous streams; it's going from $11.99 to $13.99 per month. The mid-tier plan that gives you two streams in HD is jumping just one dollar from $9.99 to $10.99.

The entry-level plan that offers only one stream in standard definition remains unchanged at $7.99—the same price as the most basic streaming-only plan when it was first introduced back in 2010.

The info on Netflix's page for starting new plans has already been updated to these new numbers, but if you're on one of these plans already, the plan-switching page in your account settings still shows the old prices. Mashable reports that existing customers will see the change in November and will be notified on October 19 that it's coming.
