The vast majority of Chromebooks that have shipped in the past few years have had 32GB of storage or less… because you don’t need a lot of storage space for apps when using a browser-based operating system designed to run web apps. By shipping models with 16GB or 32G GB of storage, device makers have been able to offer reasonably fast storage and reasonably cheap laptops.
But now that Google is bringing support for Android apps and games to Chrome OS, you might want more storage space… and the only options right now are high-priced models like the Google Chromebook Pixel.

The Windows 10 Anniversary Update coming in August includes an unusual feature aimed at developers: an Ubuntu sub-system that lets you run Linux software using a command-line interface.
Preview versions have been available since April, and while Microsoft and Canonical worked together to bring support for the Bash terminal to Windows 10, it didn’t take long for some users to figure out that they could get some desktop Linux apps to run in Windows.

Gaming can be an expensive hobby. The latest Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo game consoles costs hundreds of dollars, and gaming PCs can easily cost several times as much.
Over the past few years a number of companies have tried to shake things up by launching micro-consoles which are typically smaller, cheaper, and less powerful than a PS4, Xbox 360, or most PCs. Results have been mixed at best.
The much-hyped Ouya was a flop.

Chinese device maker Xiaomi doesn’t currently sell any smartphones in the United States. But that hasn’t stopped the company from submitting documents for some of its Android phones to the FCC… you know, just in case.

The Xiaomi Redmi 3S was unveiled in June and features a 5 inch screen, a massive battery, and a fingerprint scanner.

The GPD Win is a tiny computer that looks like a laptop, but which features a 5.5 inch touchscreen display, a thumb-sized QWERTY keyboard, and dedicated gaming buttons above the alpha-numeric keys.

Chinese device maker has been offering tiny Windows and Android computers for a few years, but the company first came to my attention back in 2012 when I learned that the Android-powered Mele A1000 TV box was also able to run Linux.
This year the company started selling some products with Ubuntu Linux pre-installed, and the latest is the PCG03U, a compact computer/TV box with 2GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, an Intel Atom Bay Trail processor, and Ubuntu 14.04 Linux.

A few years after launching a line of smartphones designed to protect users privacy and security, the makers of the Blackphone are taking one another to court. Swiss software company Silent Circle had partnered with Spanish phone maker Geeksphone to make the Blackphone and Blackphone 2.
But court documents reveal that the companies overestimated demand for the hardware and anticipated hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue that never appeared.
All told, it looks like the Blackphone has been a flop.

The Lenovo Miix 700 is a 12 inch Windows tablet with a 2160 x 1440 pixel display, an Intel Core M Skylake processor, and a detachable keyboard dock.
Prices normally start at $750 for a model with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, but you can often find stores selling the Miix 700 for a discount. Right now Micro Center has the best price I’ve seen though: the retailer is selling the Miix 700 for $400 and up.
